In Strasbourg #EPlenary, I reminded my colleagues:
For Latvia and much of Central and Eastern Europe, May 8, 1945 did not bring freedom. Soviet occupation followed Nazi tyranny. No Nuremberg for communism followed.
Europe must confront all totalitarian crimes — truth is security.

I addressed the  EU`a support for a just peace in Ukraine.
 
This is the fourth year since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The outcome of this war will determine not only the future of Ukraine, but also the security of Europe and the entire Western world for decades to come.
 
Defeat in Ukraine – the beginning of the end for the West.
Victory – restoring the credibility of the rule of law and institutions, regaining geopolitical credibility.
 
The European Parliament must act clearly:
Just peace on Ukrainian terms only
We must stop aggressors
We must move towards Ukrainian accession to the EU – immediately
