Exchange of views at EP Foreign Affairs Committee

Alongside parliamentarians from EU Member States, we discussed transatlantic relations in challenging times.

My take:
🔹 Defence spending—Europe must step up, excuses won’t cut it.
🔹 Our own responsibilities—trade between the EU and Russia has increased in some sectors, and we should be ashamed.
🔹 Sanctions on Russia—internal obstructionism is a gift to the Kremlin. Time to end it.

With other colleagues I, too, questioned Radosław Sikorski (Polands Foreign minister) on how Poland plans on pushing towards steep increase in defence spending in the EU, ensuring not only the maintenance but an increase in EU support to Ukraine, and whether Poland plans on tackling the issue of internal disrupters — Hungary and Slovakia — within the EU.
