Resolution on continued EU support for Ukraine

I was the European Conservatives and Reformists Groups negotiator in the discussions between the political groups on the European parliaments resolution that was just supported with 442 votes “in favor” on continued EU support for Ukraine, three years after Russia launched its war of aggression.

In the negotiations on the resolution, we achieved a stronger position against Russia:

🔹 A call to completely ban or impose tariffs on Russian imports to the EU—all economic flows that feed the Kremlin’s war machine must be closed
🔹 A clear demand for the confiscation of Russia’s frozen funds and their redirection to the defense and reconstruction of Ukraine
🔹 A clear signal that Europe must strengthen military and financial support for Ukraine.

The resolution emphasizes: Ukraine’s defeat is unacceptable, as it would be a strategic disaster for all of Europe. Ukraine is also fighting for our security—it is our responsibility to ensure that Ukraine wins!

What is significant in the context of this resolution – in negotiations with the political groups, it was possible to achieve that the policy of non-recognition of the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia is incorporated into the text of the resolution – both Crimea and other territories temporarily occupied by Russia still belong and will continue to belong to Ukraine. Mr. Zelenskyy has also repeatedly emphasized something similar in recent days, emphasizing that Ukraine will not recognize the territories occupied by Russia.
