We categorically reject Russia’s illegal claims over Ukraine 2025 • 19. March • 1 min Share Just as the U.S. refused to recognize the Soviet occupation of the Baltics, we must categorically reject Russia’s illegal claims over Ukraine. Borders cannot be redrawn by force—any attempt to legitimize them is a betrayal of international law and Western principles. At the Munich Security Conference, we discussed the urgent need to affirm the policy of non-recognition. Grateful to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for his leadership in driving this resolution forward in the U.S. Congress, and I hope that this initiative will receive widespread support. This is a critical step in ensuring no action, no policy, no statement will ever grant Russia even a sliver of legitimacy over occupied Ukrainian land. Ukraine’s sovereignty is absolute. The message must be crystal clear: Crimea is Ukraine. Donetsk is Ukraine. Luhansk is Ukraine. Zaporizhzhia is Ukraine. Kherson is Ukraine. The free world must stand firm—Russia’s imperial delusions will not stand.
